Thank you again to the citizens of Auglaize County for your support of the Heritage Trails Park District levy. The mission of the park district is to: “Create and preserve park land within Auglaize County for the purpose of conservation, leisure and education for all to enjoy and appreciate.” We look forward to growing the park district with you by providing opportunities for outdoor recreation, nature education and public park lands for current and future generations of Auglaize County.


Please join us for our upcoming ‘2024 Cabin Fever Hike Series’ to explore the different sections of the Towpath Trail in Auglaize County! Bundle up and burn some holiday calories with a refreshing wintertime walk on January 14th, 2024, 1pm-3pm at the Lockkeepers' House, located at 22 S. Water Street, New Bremen, Ohio. Additional Cabin Fever Hikes to follow on: February 11th, March 10th & April 14th. Visit www.htparks.org for program information. The next Heritage Trails Park District Commissioners meeting is scheduled for December 19th at 5pm at the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce. Public welcome.




Gardener's Swap & Share is May 15th at 6pm

The St. Marys Community Public Library and the Heritage Trails Park District invite the public to a Gardener’s Swap and Share on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come to the parking area outside the library and bring your plant divisions and miscellaneous garden plants to swap and share with others. Then join us for a presentation at 7:00 p.m. given by Kevin O’Neill, who will talk about “Farming for Pollinators.” Learn about what he has discovered while farming for bees. Representatives from the St. Marys Garden Club will be available to answer your gardening questions and you can share your own gardening tips and tricks. Information about the 2024 St. Marys Farmers Market will also be available. Enter a drawing for a chance to win a prize. Besides this one evening event, plants can be brought to the library during library hours from Monday, May 13, through Saturday, May 18, 2024, where a cart will be stationed near the entrance of the library.
Self-guided Spring Wildflower Hike ~ Apr. 28 - May 12

Heritage Trails Park District invites you to explore the Dr. Elizabeth Yahl-Kuffner Nature Preserve for a spring wildflower hike! Enjoy a self-guided hike along the wooded trails of this unique nature preserve, where numerous species of Ohio’s native wildflowers can be found, including the official State Wildflower of Ohio, the Large-flowered Trillium. Signage will be located along the trail to help you identify wildflowers first-hand and learn fun facts about each species. Pick a day & time that works for you, hike at your own pace, learn as you go along, and spend some quality time outdoors!
