Plant of the Month - Wild Blue Phlox
Wild Blue Phlox (Phlox Divaricata). The flowers, atop sticky stems, are slightly fragrant and range in color from pale blue to lavender to violet. Deer seem to have little interest in Phlox, but rabbits especially like it.
It is a tough plant! Spreads by seeds and rhizomes. Wild blue phlox can be confused with "dames rocket" which is a non native invasive perennial and grows up to three feet. The best way to ID between the two are the inflorescence (flower). Wild Blue Phlox has 5 petals, while dames rocket has 4 petals.
