Auglaize Outdoors is a column to inform readers in the St. Marys and Wapakoneta region of the vast natural world that can be found just outside their door. The Heritage Trails Park District creates the column on a bi-monthly basis for the St. Marys Evening Leader, Wapakoneta Daily News and the Community Post and on the web at Grand Lake Independent.org.
The goal is to encourage people to go outside and explore, be it on one of the great trails that cross our county, in their back yard or in the parks around us. To discover the natural treasures that exist in our everyday environment.
In addition to providing readers with inspiration for the outdoors highlights programs and opportunities taking place around the area. Cycling, hiking, hospital fitness events, canal clean up days, and natural history speakers are woven, in a timely manner, into the column.
